This guide will show you how to upload images, screenshots, and supported files to ExpressAI for analysis, text extraction, summarization, and more.

All files and images uploaded to ExpressAI are processed in encrypted memory within the enclave and are never used for model training.

Important: In order to upload files and images in ExpressAI, you must first set up a primary password to unlock your secure vault.

Which AI models support file and image analysis?

The following AI models support file and image analysis in ExpressAI:

GPT OSS 120B: A powerful open-weight model by OpenAI for everyday reasoning and writing. Excels at drafting, summarization, Q&A, and general-purpose tasks. (Accepts text, spreadsheets, and documents.)

Nemotron 12B: A compact powerhouse by NVIDIA for technical work. Excels at solving math problems, generating code, and tackling complex reasoning tasks. (Accepts text, spreadsheets, and documents.)

DeepSeek R1 Distill 32B: Your go-to model for problems that require careful thinking. Excels at multi-step reasoning, logic puzzles, research analysis, and anything that benefits from thinking before answering. (Accepts text, spreadsheets, and documents.)

Qwen2.5-VL 32B: See and understand the world around you. Excels at reading documents, extracting data from images, answering questions about charts, and analyzing diagrams. (Accepts text, images, and PDFs.)

Qwen3.5 35B-A3B: A smart, efficient model for long and complex tasks. Excels at coding, multi-step reasoning, and multilingual tasks. (Accepts text, spreadsheets, and documents.)

File storage and upload limits

All ExpressVPN Pro plans have the following allowances:

  • Max upload size: 50MB per prompt
  • Max stored files: 200 files total
  • Total storage limit: 2GB total

How to upload files and images on desktop

Note: You cannot upload files when using multiple AI models at the same time.

To upload files to ExpressAI on desktop:

  1. If locked, unlock your vault using your primary password.

  2. Click Attach file icon for ExpressAInext to the chat box.

How to upload files and images on mobile

Note: You cannot upload files when using multiple AI models at the same time.

You need to unlock your vault using your primary password to upload files and images. If your vault is already unlocked, skip to step 4:

  1. Tap Menu icon..

How to delete files and images on desktop

Every time you attach files to a prompt in ExpressAI, that file is stored in ExpressAI under the Files section of your chat history vault.

To delete files from your vault on desktop:

  2. Click Files.

  3. Hover over the file you want to delete, then click the red trash can icon.
